When our cats sit together in the blanket basket I try to auction it to my wife as a luxury gift set.

Most she ever bids is like $75 USD. Good luck.

Helldivers 2’s new beta client is 24GB (current client: 150+GB).

So, I’ve at least had a chance to download more hard drive space

  • Lol, when I was kid whenever I “misbehave” (aka: doing any anything she doesn’t like), my mother (we’re Chinese American) would joke like “hey, how much do you think you’re worth if I sold you back to China? … probably nothing since you’re worthless”

It was kinda joking, but I got half-scared too lol, couldn’t tell when she was serious.

She also joked to me she that “found me in a trashcan somewhere” and took me in.

What’s with these “jokes” lmfao 💀 I mean its funny but my soul dies a little 🫠

I would downsize my RAM before giving up my cat. My cat warms my lap directly which is more efficient than warming the room with the PC.

I had to look it up because I didn’t believe y’all.

    $755 for 64GB DDR5.

I thought I had DDR5 but I guess it’s just DDR4 according to my motherboard.

Mother fucker. I could have gotten it for $200 a year ago. I’m at the point where I suggest we start taking ahem excessive action against AI companies.

In my experience, obtaining a cat is free. Everyone is max 3 degrees of separation away from unwanted kittens.

So fucking glad I decided to spend a little extra money back in 2022 and get 64 GB of RAM.

Now I have collateral if I want to take out a loan.

Cats aren’t animals, they’re robots. The reason they purr is because they have fans.

Instead of selling him, unscrew the 4 pentalobe screws to remove the stomach plate, which will then expose 2 torx T6 screws to remove the neck plate. This then exposes 3 of the 7 total torx T4 screws for the 3 frame pieces that need to be unscrewed to access the motherboard. Before accessing the motherboard, 6 Philips head screws must be unscrewed and the board then can be pulled out.

Unfortunately, most cats have soldered LPDDR5 RAM chips, and therefore can only be desoldered to extract the DRAM chips, although some models of cat sometimes do have upgradable ram, such as pre 2015 cats with standard SO-DIMM modules (usually 2 sticks from 2 to 4 GB each,) or rare high spec cats which tend to have LPCAMM modules instead (on average being 1 stick of 32gb or higher).

Yes, but the US fired regulators and neutered depts. Now that it’s a kleptocracy and price fixing is just considered good business.

But how is a global demand shock price fixing? I wouldn’t build extra factories to produce the extra memory either. Them coming online would be much later than the likely end of the AI bubble.

Probably because it just does not make too much sense right now. I would expect the landscape to shift again soon enough. Maybe they were scraping by for a while and just couldn’t carry on. There are many plausible explanations and ram is a commodity market hence very cutthroat.

Read the article & comments. Seems like they were already kinda heading in that direction anyway, but I doubt it was due to just scraping by so much as the ever-present “maximizing profits” business mandate.

Maximizing profits by increasing price does not work in commodity markets unless you are forming a cartel or monopoly. If your goods are fungible you don’t have customer loyalty.
