”Share a Disney quote that sums up how you’re feeling right now!”
That’s what Disney posted on Threads the other day, and people immediately replied with lines from Star Wars, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and even Mary Poppins. The throughline between all the quotes: they were pretty pointedly anti-fascist and clearly aimed at the current administration
He sits alone on a giant throne
Pretendin’ he’s the king
A little tyke who’s rather like
A puppet on a string
And he throws an angry tantrum
If he cannot have his way
And then he calls for Mum
While he’s suckin’ his thumb
You see, he doesn’t want to play
LoL.

Conservatives support the god damned storm troopers too.
Edit: ICE even aims like them too.
Disney are also really shitty at removing any context in their movies. An interesting scene at the beginning of the movie Encanto a flashback references an unknown conflict in Colombia resulting in the death of the grandmother’s husband. What conflict Disney? Who were the bad guys Disney? Further research by an interested viewer will reveal that it was a civil war involving a right wing of rebels backed by the US, rose up against a leftist government.
But don’t worry, someone recorded it for posterity.
Link?
(Was it in the article? I failed to find…)
[With the help of an LLM] Here’s a few worthy quotes:
[Edit: Thanks Susaga for pointing out the LLM lied. Hah. LLMs. Can’t trust 'em. Good lines, pity they’re not true quotes.]
“To be my own master. Such a thing would be greater than all the magic and all the treasures in all the world.” — Genie, Aladdin (1992)
“You think you’re so clever, but you’re just a cowardly, backstabbing, murderous lizard!” — Simba, The Lion King (1994)“A true hero isn’t measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart.” — Zeus, Hercules (1997)
“I won’t be a pawn in someone else’s game!” — Pinocchio, Pinocchio (1940)“You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” — Christopher Robin, Winnie the Pooh (1966–1977)“I’d rather die tomorrow than live a hundred years without knowing freedom.” — John Smith, Pocahontas (1995)“You can’t own a human being!” — Dr. David Q. Dawson, The Aristocats (1970)The LLM lied. Those aren’t quotes from Lion King, Pinocchio, Pocahontas, Aristocats, or Winnie the Pooh. (Christopher Robin did say that, but not in that specific movie. And it’s not particularly antifa either)
Also, Dr Dawson isn’t from the Aristocats. He’s from Great Mouse Detective, and didn’t say the line there either.
It is recorded as a video in the article (screen capture from scrolling Threads on a phone).
Can’t they just post screenshot, or just paste the text of the quotes? Like I really need to watch a video of this…
You relied on ALie.
The article links a screenrecording of the thread, but it’s a Zuck product so to save you a click:

Thank you, Threads is a garbage pit.

A monarchy where succession is decided by trial-by-combat though?
Is it any worse than the American political system really?
That’s like saying AIDS is not as bad as Cancer.
Fair enough
I’d love to see the cheeto do a trial by combat, that would be outright funny

Ironic for a company that recently made Andor.
You might have already heard its praise, but I wanted to add that it’s not just a political thriller, it’s about fascism. More specifically, it’s about the dilemma of doing nothing and pretending everything is fine or doing something even if it means using the tools of your enemy.
Senator Mothma’s speech at the end was creepily relevant, you just need to replace palpatine for another name.
Isn’t all of Star Wars about fascism?
Andor is much more about anti-fascism than other Star Wars pieces. But in a more adult and realistic way. That one has to get their hands dirty and give up some ideals.
On the other hand it shows good people meaning good things are still doing bad things simply because they are part of a fascist regime of which they might not even be aware of (because fascism is about manipulation and propaganda).
Watching Succession (which is based on the lives of media families like the Murdochs, the Redstones, the Maxwells, and the Sulzbergers) made me realize how little they care about the message their entertainment wing gives.
They will play both sides if it pays off. They don’t care.
Andor was a pacification tool meant to supplicate the weak liberals who refuse to actually, I don’t know, DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE CURRENT REAL LIFE SITUATION. You too can resist, by watching Andor from your couch! Thinking is just as good as doing!
“The poison. The poison for Kuzco. The poison chosen especially to kill Kuzco. Kuzco’s poison. That poison?”
Just replace Kuzco with any number of evil people fucking shit up rn.
Somebody, somewhere, is updating their list of all the old pre-fascism movies and TV shows that will need to be erased from the culture.
So their whole pre-2025 catalogue? Haha oh my.
Only in America is Hydra the good guys.
Meanwhile, I’m going through this list right now of Best Anti-Fascist Films of All Time
Disney constantly edits old TV shows. Episodes of the Simpsons are slowly being sanitized of “bad” things, for example.
also waffling around with giving ORVILLE another season, since the show contradicts the GOP in everyway, and it gets conservative panties in a wad.
and it gets conservative panties in a wad.
No need to single out Lindsey Graham, I’m sure it upsets all the “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” snowflakes.
