First time in this beautiful city. Used to think flying across the country for 1 cinema screen was a waste. Not any more. (Shame I found this post as I’m packing to go back home) but I’ll be back in December for Dune.

Still so mentally tired while at the same time trying to get difficult things done ( that’s the point of abuse, eh, to degrade ability 🤨 )

but it’s been great to have the young Seagoons 😭

and Bill Cat is better everyday

Tried to strip the red out of my hair, and it’s turned a weird pink-ish champagne-y colour with my natural colour prominent near the scalp. I was expecting a coppery look tbh.

Letting it heal a bit before going to home bleach it. I found a vegan bleach (!) so gonna give that a go. Then, most likely on the weekend, I’ll try to dye it pink and purple and see how it comes out.

It passed from exposure to the heat/sun. It seems mum had some trouble keeping up with the chicks’ movements.

Detailed description from the Dr Victor Hurley

Well, it is quite sad to confirm what we all already know. One of the nestlings has died. Sorry, I have been in the field out of phone range all day to report sooner.

From a brief review of the tapes it appears the nestlings spread out in all directions and this overwhelmed F24’s ability to keep on top of things. With one in the gutter (a new occurrence for this year) and one at the extreme end of the nest box, F24 suffered from the “Vegemite Syndrome”, which is just a matter of being spread too thin!

From my experience, that far corner gets really hot with no air circulating and these nestlings are too young to efficiently moderate their own body temperatures. If this one did in fact die from heat stress it will be the first out of 78 since 1992 to succumb this way. It was a short life and it filled us all with joy whilst it was here.

The adults now have three young to focus their attention on and I am confident they will have this in hand through to fledging.

    relationship catharsis

Today my ex wakes up in Tasmania with her sister on the holiday that I broke up with to avoid. We broke up for many reasons, but I’d checked out and couldn’t face feigning relationship investment for a full week. We had a nice chat the other day, she let me have it on a few fronts with good points. I seem to lack emotional availability, I didn’t have anything to say to that :). She’d acknowledged what wasn’t working for her. I feel we were both hoping the not working stuff would work but it wasn’t going to. We met at bad places in our lives and were good for each other during that time. It’s a shame that it didn’t work but it’s nice that it happened. Less traumatic than messy youthful breakups. I should try again.

      hugs

Holiday with my ex was the worst most awkward time.

we rented an airbnb with the young Seagoons at a place near lorne

I did not want share a room and didn’t

but I basically never went on holiday for a very long time and part of the reason was because holidays are a special time and i didn’t want any special times

I broke things off so actual availability was an issue.

I’ve just received a PIC of the ex, her sister and her fwb at a distillery we were going to visit. I don’t care for whiskey much anyway. Glad she’s got someone there for comfort. Bit gauche sending a photo including the fwb, it was taken by a third party so it seems and active choice. The drinking was an issue for me too so photos from a distillery lean into that.

I feel that if I don’t maintain contact we’ll be low contact anyway. She came to my place FIVE times in ten months of relationship. I made the whole thing very convenient for her, I doubt I’ll see much effort from her to hang out. I got an invite to the birthday party in a month but if she’s sending me holiday pics with her FWB maybe fuck it all.

Were you happy with that balance? And yeah if someone I saw sent me pics with their FWB, I would duck right off.

                Not really happy with it.

There was a little story attached that he happened to be in Tasmania doing a whiskey tasting which is what my ex wanted to do there.

There was a line in Landman where he said the beauty of breaking up is that you don’t have to care about this stuff.

Yeah, that FWB photo is quite the choice…

BTW, I might have missed it, but how did it go with the apartment?!

It’s a bit of an outlay for the spices the first time but its super easy and super tasty. Blows Lao Ga Ma out of the water.

No one buy star anise, I have 1kg of it which is many a lifetime supply.

I was in springy grabbing bulk spices and they were all 1kg. It was only ~$12 or something. I’ve been making my own chai for years and haven’t got through the wee bag of it I got from Friends of The Earth 20 years ago. 1kg of Star anise is crazy, someone will inherit that.
