Poor strays. Where I feed them is muddy and flooded from the rain.
I managed to get the rain blocker in place but still :(
Showed the GF some different Linux desktop environments because I’m trying to convince her to switch her laptop over. She has a Steamdeck so she’s seen Plasma before which is more of your typical Windows style desktop, but for laptops I really like GNOME.
GNOME looks more like a phone interface on a computer and if I was still doing work at the aged care place I’d try convince people there to switch to linux with GNOME. It’s a different workflow to your usual computer interface but I feel it’s easy to use and makes a lot of sense if you’re starting from scratch
just remember, it’s about what she likes, not you. I heartily dislike mint’s cinnamon interface, but I’ve put it in several places because I’m coaxing over windows users.
That’s why I showed her the two options. GNOME looked to weird and different to her so we’ll go Plasma when the time comes. It’s the hot thing at the moment anyway since 6 came out
I know I should do this as well as shift everything to proton mail but my brain is tired
If you’ve got something you can use as a ‘beater laptop’ that’s a good way to start. Linux can breathe new life into an old computer that still works but can’t handle modern bloat. Once you start using something for light web browsing and word processing you realise how little the OS on your computer makes a difference.
And for switching to Proton you can set up a redirect on your old email address so you still get everything but can operate out of your new Proton account

On a Monday? You rebel!
I made a filet-o-fish meal deal

I would smash that. 🙌
I did. It was pretty good.
Cold roast chook with mashed potat and brussels sprouts dressed in butter and lemon. Not aesthetic, but tasty and filling.
Left over lasagne, I’m excited!
Nice…
spaghetti with sauce
had more sleep, migraines don’t just tire me out but they actually cause insomnia too, so had some catch up
How is it Monday already

Siete Leguas Blanco Tequila. 3/5 Hobbits. While there’s nothing wrong with it’s taste, there’s a number of cheaper nicer tequilas. It is from the distiller that was originally contacted to supply Patron, which is what caught my eye. At $150 a bottle (delivery inc) I won’t be getting another. I don’t regret it but it costs a bit much. Dan’s tequila 125 is a cheap easy drinking 35%. 1800 is there if I feel like a nicer drop. Blu and Monte Alban are pretty nice too. Jose Cuervo blanco is easily found and tasty. Look I like tequila and I’ve had a few.
you know you can’t post Tequila and not have me post the song, eh ,

I downloaded Threads to the work phone because I heard it was a weird place. From a quick scroll it’s like “What if logged out Youtube was Twitter”
Threads is such a weird place. The hysteria over the smallest things is wild to witness. And the fishing for attention posts.
It has all that but written in the most boring, inhuman way, as if everyone is using LLMs to maintain a presence on there and the algorithm is selecting the most asinine posts to surface
anyone want anything from the shops?
Oh no, did I miss the chance for you to grab me some caramel chocolate? I’ve got a craving real bad!
no no, not too late 😊

The beeeeest, thank you!!
Gimme gimme gimme!
If it’s not too late, could I please have a choccy milkshake and a photo of the ocean.
here ya go

Will the Pacific do? This is Ocean Beach on the North Island, NZ. ( I took this pic 👍 )

Oh that’s perfect! And the choccy milkshake is very yum indeed.
That beach is just the opposite to the kind of beach I’m used to.
I walked to the far point, it’s all beautiful, the black sand sparkles with mica, there are forests and cliffs and rock pools. But the water scared me, so powerful, always loud. When you look out on the horizon it’s like 9,000 km of ocean to land. It is vast.
One of the things I like most about oceans is how they remind me of just how small and insignificant all the human stuff we care so much about actually is. It’s a place to connect to the cosmic I reckon.
