True, what’s your prescription for the problem?

halt all entertainment. Reminder: this Lemmy posting is about Las Vegas, slot machines. Which is why I brought up Trump, MAGA, Trumpism as an associated topic. Looping entertainment.

    • “We like to think of ourselves as immune from influence or our cognitive biases, because we want to feel like we are in control, but industries like alcohol, tobacco, fast food, and gaming all know we are creatures that are subject to cognitive and emotional vulnerabilities. And tech has caught on to this with its research into “user experience,” “gamification,” “growth hacking,” and “engagement” by activating ludic loops and reinforcement schedules in the same way slot machines do. So far, this gamification has been contained to social media and digital platforms, but what will happen as we further integrate our lives with networked information architectures designed to exploit evolutionary flaws in our cognition? Do we really want to live in a “gamified” environment that engineers our obsessions and plays with our lives as if we are inside its game?” ― Christopher Wylie, Mindf*ck: Cambridge Analytica and the Plot to Break America, chapter 12 “Revelations”, page 235, year 2019

    Same Page, The Same Time

    1. Repeat Dr. Lee’s books, articles and videos

    2. Repeat Marshall McLuhan and Neil Postman

Stop creating new content. Get all on the same page and actually stand up to the feedback looping between We The People and Donald Trump ultra-star entertainer. All get on the same page at the same time and teach cult deprogramming.

Put aside sports, entertainment films, entertainment television, video games, etc. Be serious. Stop the total mockery. Looping of Trump mocking audience and audience mocking Trump. Sober up as a nation. come to terms that Donald Trump was a mistake in year 1985, year 1995, year 2005, year 2015, year 2025. What changed was feedback looping between television news (Fox News), internet culture (July 6, 2011 onward https://theoutline.com/post/2445/trump-s-first-real-tweet-was-on-july-6-2011 ), and Trump is a master of standing in the spotlight of any and all media systems. Face up to media addictions being MAGA Trumpism.

So basically just hoping that the US ruling class will start following the ideas of your favourite psychiatrist?

No, not at all. We The People are drunk on Trump content. Meme drunk nation. We The People need to address media addiction. Neil Postman, Marshall McLuhan, etc. Dr. Bandy X Lee is a leader of 27 people. you mock her as only one person. Your mocking is the problem. Anti-intellectual, Anti-book printed on paper. Lover of Trump mocking tone and anti-learning.

Again: NO, not at all. We the People on meme apps are the crisis. Ignorance. Celebration of Ignorance, celebrating Trump as ignorance laughs. LOL LOL at Trumps mental disorders in waves of electric media feedback looping, constantly waiting on meme apps for the next Trump entertainment stimulation. Every media system of every medium converged into mocking and mockery singularity. Chucklehead nation of meme addicts, age 12 to age 125, all inclusive, voter and nonvoters all anti-intellectual celebrating ignorance.

        Celebration of Ignorance

“Science is more than a body of knowledge; it is a way of thinking. I have a (year 1995) foreboding of an America in my children’s or grandchildren’s time — when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the key manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what’s true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness. The dumbing down of America is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30-second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance. As I write, the number-one videocassette rental in America is the movie Dumb and Dumber. “Beavis and Butthead” remain popular (and influential) with young TV viewers. The plain lesson is that study and learning — not just of science, but of anything — are avoidable, even undesirable.” ― Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark, 1995, page 59

Positing large excerpts barely related to the current conversation does not an intellectual make. And thinking I support trump in the slightest shows your own anti-intellectualism and lack of curiosity

Again what is you prescription for the probblem, simply stating ‘people need to get of apps and start listening to Dr Lee and her ‘27 leaders’’ is not a solution, what is your solution to achieve this result?

barely related to the current conversation

            There you go. Mocking.

Nothing stops the mockery. The anti-book on paper mockery that is Trumpism.

What the IRA started in year 2013 is in runaway. Russia can’t stop it. Nothing can stop it. It’s probably already too late. The addiction to entertainment and detachment from humanism is already wrecking all goodness long-term.

(We The) People can no longer read 1995 book and connect that it is directly related to USA national mass mind in year 2025. You are only here to mock away goodness, that’s your agenda and your outcome. And nothing has been able to break the feedback looping of total mockery. Shit-posting is the mindset everyone craves. It’s been non-stop shit-posting growth since July 6, 2011. The Apple iPhone screen size (The Medium) is the meme message of minds.

Your mocking won the wrecking of the world before I ever created a single message on Lemmy. Vince Gilligan in February 2025 at the Writers Guild of America spelled it out: Social media cesspool. Shit-posting shit-commenting always wins. Mocking and mockery, total mockery wins any debate (hence, Trump wins any challenge, Rupert Murdoch wins any adult education, Joe Rogan wins, mockery wins). Carl Sagan book printed in year 1995, Neil Postman books, Dr. Bandy X Lee’s books, always rejected.

there’s no simple answer for how we might change that. Though, if there were, I bet it would have something to do with climbing up out of the cesspool that is social media and actually listening to each other.

            11:07
But I don’t know how to make that happen. So, I’ll stick to my wheelhouse. As a writer speaking to a room full of writers, I have a proposal…

It not mocking its a fact, gish galloping with page long expects that may have a sentence or two related is not an effective tactic if your actual trying to convert me to your cause and not just intellectually masturbating. If you aren’t anti-intellectual you can take the time to extract the relevant points and present them cogently

What the IRA started in year 2013 is in runaway. Russia can’t stop it. Nothing can stop it. It’s probably already too late. The addiction to entertainment and detachment from humanism is already wrecking all goodness long-term.

Again you seem to place the blame entirely on Russia and discount the effect of the US’s equivalent of the IRA: Eglin AFB and its effect on the population, and other western backed project such as Cambridge Analytica

              Social media cesspool.

So you’ve somewhat correctly disorganised the problem as big tech(if not capitalism as a whole) the only counter to big tech is socialist organisation a real concrete action you can take instead of just hoping people will magically begin following the ‘27 leaders’ which is just wish-casting on your part, the system cannot be reformed it needed to be smashed and a new bottom-up power structure put in place

It not mocking its a fact, gish galloping

You could have independently located Dr. Bandy X. Lee’s nonfiction serious book printed on paper at book stores and public library. That isn’t “Gish galloping” in Lemmy commenting, that’s your inability to escape the simulation (off-screen to a book printed on paper sitting on physical book shelves). You have had YEARS to take seriously Donald Trump’s mental disorders and observe the avoidance of nonfiction books (relevant books) on paper. Years of being able to observe that the population (everyone) is avoiding getting on the same page at the same time (Dr. Lee’s book pages).

You fixate on me, as you are here (active measures or useful banality agent) to mock my message and drive me away from calling out that The Emperor has no clothes, and We The People are not calling out that the Emperor has no clothes. We are in feedback looping of tree after tree (streaming memes, recency bias) with no forest-level self-awareness. We have no perspective at the level of Marshall McLuhan or Neil Postman.

People do not desire authentic progress and goodness, We The People endlessly desire laughs and memes, amusement and joking about Donald Trump’s mental disorders. That’s what wrecked the USA and next the total world. Endlessly joking about an 80 year old man who stands in all media system spotlights. Endlessly laughing at Donald Trump addictions to media. Infinite Jest: attraction to Trump LOL cow milking.

Why do you keep ignoring my direct questions?

                    1. “Forest for the trees” I’ve referenced multiple times

                    2. The Big Picture. Everyone. “We The People” multiple times.

                    3. You are a banality agent, active measures. Here to drive me away from posting in public about THE PUBLIC.

                    • “We do not know whether Hitler is going to found a new Islam. (He is already on the way; he is like Mohammed. The emotion in Germany is Islamic; warlike and Islamic. They are all drunk with a wild god.)” - Carl Jung

                    • “No nation keeps its word. A nation is a big, blind worm, following what? Fate perhaps. A nation has no honour, it has no word to keep. … Hitler is himself the nation. That incidentally is why Hitler always has to talk so loud, even in private conversation — because he is speaking with 78 million voices.” - Carl Jung. During an interview with H. R. Knickerbocker (1939)

                      • In Donald Trump’s case, “meme so loud”. His spoken voice isn’t really that loud like Hitler. But Trump’s meme voice is dominating and role model.

                    points we’ve already agreed on

Show me where you posted Dr. Bandy X Lee and quoted her on social media. As you sound like a Trump Fan who thinks LOL LOL LOL laughing at disturbed mental people is amusing to you.
