Man… Labour really needed to hammer home how shit the country was after 15 years of austerity. how hard the hill was to climb together.

Instead we get divisive politics. weak socialism.

Such a waste of their landslide win.

    Things can only get shittier

I don’t think it’s the worst fear. At least they choose the Greens over Reform.

It’s definitely their worst fear. They’d rather hand their country to the fascists than allow any kind of progressive government, just like the Democrats in the US.

You know that, six months after leading Labour to a wipeout at the hands of the Faragists, Starmer would be on the boards of at least three companies, the beneficiary of offshore bank accounts worth hundreds of millions and spending most of his time on his yacht. The Owners reward their loyal servants.

Funny, because the non-voters handed it to fascists when they had no chance at getting their progressive government anyway.

Labour Together hates socialists far more than it hates fascists. It has even adopted a number of fascist policies, while purging socialists from the party.

it’s shown that you can vote for a fringe party and not allow reform in.

Many leftwing people might now choose to vote for a real socialist option.

Came here to say exactly this! But coming 3rd, behind Greens and Reform, is pretty close to the worst fear (coming 3rd behind Reform and Greens).

It was comical hearing Badenoch (whose party got 706 votes in the byelection) declare that this was the end of Labour (which did poorly, but which still got 12 times as many votes as the Tories).

For the Conservatives, meanwhile, the result confirmed the party has collapsed in areas where Reform is performing strongly. The 1.9% won by their candidate, Charlotte Cadden, is the party’s worst byelection result in history, and marks only the second time the party has lost its deposit in a vote by polling under 5% since 1962.

I feel that this bit is worth a mention too. Incredible that the party that won a landslide victory 2 general elections ago fucked up this badly.

My friend pointed out that this puts the Conservatives on the same tier of success in this election as the Monster Raving Loony Party, and I find that hilarious

God Bless the Monster Raving Loony Party for knowingly sacrificing their election registration fee, as they always do. If they hadn’t run, who would be the bar at the bottom who would underscore how far the Tories have fallen

I’ve spent my entire life hating the Tories, and whilst it seems like reform are an even bigger threat, it’s good to enjoy this little moment of schadenfreude.

Let’s hope this keeps up until a national election. If they get into power, hopefully they can !twnw@fedia.io

The country and the world needs it right now.
