I’ve put my final Coles order in for pickup next week, as I don’t trust them to deliver to deliver to the right address or to make good if they don’t. That will use up the credit for my last mis-delivered order that I had to fight tooth and nail to get, and will be my last ever shop with Coles. After this I will have officially broken up with Coles and intend to go No Contact. Definitely an acrimonious breakup.

    Update: “we’re not sure”

Everything says one thing, bloods say another, but everything could also be explained by other means. So we have some test strips and we’re gonna see if we pick up ketones at home.

Dunno if ‘we’re not sure’ is better than a diagnosis? But she has just been through a period of stress, maybe enough to throw her cortisol levels and body into a state of dysfunction. Hopefully things calm down, including a lack of keytones.

well that’s the thing - it could be stress, from the boys and from the vet, it could also be a sudden weight loss from the boys stress / no longer finishing off misha’s meals as well (she’s the same weight as last vet visit, but she did pork up a hot minute in the interim). Or we could have literally caught the diabetes at the instant it started to develop, but before any symptoms. it’s a three way tie

In my 20s we referred to Thursday as “false Friday.” You’d be tempted to go out to a pub or get pissed with friends, then wake up Friday morning with “oh no I went out and partied and now I’ve got shit to do” pisshead’s remorse 😆

What amazes me is that we did show up to work on Friday. Then go out Friday night and work Saturday too… I’d love a touch of that stamina nowadays!

Stupid question, but at a restaurant, are you supposed to bring the dishes back to the counter after you’ve finished eating, or not? I get leaving it if it’s too hot to touch, or there doesn’t seem to be room, but I was curious what we’re supposed to do.

My theory is - better not to. The waitstaff have a routine, and know exactly how to deal with used dishes for max efficiency. Also, I for one would not like to have fresh food waiting to be taken to table mixed in with other people’s used dishes. The exception would be if the restaurant is NOT busy, and the staff have the time to sort things before the next service of food goes out. Would be interesting to hear from someone who’s worked in a restaurant about this issue.

      Agree with the witch.

Used to work in hospo. Waitstaff have their own way. If it’s a big table with some hard to reach spots then just chuck the used dishes somewhere easier to reach on the table but not on the counter (every place is different though).

No. You have table service, they bring your dishes and take them away.

Even at cafes leave your dishes on the table.

Only one from the team in the office so I might do some side work for Coffee since there’s no one to notice.

And I got this remote/mini keyboard off Aliexpress for trivia and holy shit it’s so good. It has a built in gyro so you wave it around to use as a mouse, then the gyro also works to tell it which side is facing up for the remote side or the keyboard side. Beats the shitty mouse with tape over the laser they gave me.

got my oodie stuff, some new gloves, scarves, will be looking at warm shoes and a new coat

I suspect winter will hit quick and hard

Drama review. 1948 BBC radio staging of Hamlet with Gielgud

Bloody awful. Gielgud was at least 25 years too old for the role. He’s supposed to be an overly dramatic confused emotional teen, not some pontificating old fart.

Tho I did like the rendition of Polonius in this version. Makes it very clear he’s an arsehole

2 hobbits but that’s for Polonius.
