The noise-canceling claim for the Buds 4 always felt overstated when you put it next to what Sony or Bose do at similar price points. OnePlus made solid hardware but their ANC tuning was aggressive in a way that introduced its own fatigue on longer sessions. The real loss here is that their ecosystem play was actually getting better, with fast pairing and decent app support that most phone-brand earbuds skip entirely. Anyone know if the Buds 4 still gets security updates, or is that train fully off the rails now?

OnePlus Buds always punched above their weight class for ANC. The Buds 4 held up against gym noise and traffic on a busy road without flinching, which is genuinely rare at mid-range pricing. OnePlus exiting the hearables market removes one of the few brands that actually competed with premium ANC without the premium price tag.

OnePlus burned through their goodwill systematically. Removing wireless charging, downgrading screens while raising prices toward flagship territory. OPPO bailing them out was the canary in the coal mine. A brand that does not know what it is cannot be saved by subsidies.
