Not that surprising, considering this is a Galaxy-inspired film. It opens the door for them to drop all kinds of cameos and test the reception to them with the end goal of further Nintendo film franchises.

I genuinely hope the run time accomodates all these new characters. Otherwise I feel it’ll be all style, no substance like the last movie.
Why would they change the formula from the last movie? These are movies to push kids to buy the Nintendo merchandise. If you’re going into the movie expecting a cohesive and thought provoking story, you’re going to be disappointed.
