Either that or it’s aging.
I too used to drink a few beers per day. And then age caught up with me, and by the time I was 50, I almost didn’t drink anymore, because I would get most of the undesirable side effects of alcohol but very little of the fun inebriation anymore.
I didn’t need Ozempic for that, just getting older. My guess is that the lady just reached that age, and this may be a case of correlation-isn’t-causation.
It does lessen it for some people though, my wife kick started her weight loss (took it for anout 6 weeks) and when we went out could only have a small beer, second one just sat there… which also may be anecdotal until a research study has been concluded.
Could also just be part of the changes they’re making in life, generally.
Could also be as simple as reaching “full” faster, just like with any other food.
Be interesting to see what some stronger studies show.
GLP-1’s have shown to reduce/eliminate all dopamine-seeking behavior, not just pleasure-eating but also alcohol, cigarettes, gambling, shopping, drugs, etc
I kinda like dopamine, does life just suck instead?
If you’ve ever been crippled by food addiction or alcoholism or gambling or drug addiction, having those problems suddenly disappear is like someone lifting a ten ton truck off of you that had been crushing you for decades. CAN FINALLY LIVE A NORMAL LIFE WITH NO MORE INSATIABLE DEMONS CONSTANTLY BEGGING FOR ENDLESS SUPPLIES OF EVERYTHING. Free & light & like 90% of that mental space has been opened up, can live a normal life now.
People who know addiction, get it. People who don’t, wonder why you can’t control yourself.
Exactly! It’s not a matter of self-control or moral failing or weakness. It’s a relentless soul-deep insatiable craving that never goes away until you’re sick from overflowing of the thing, and next time you wake up you need more. It’s literally a medical issue and
I’m SO GLAD the medical industry is starting to recognize this. Although there is still hella fight back even from insurance companies refusing to prescribe GLP-1’s to all the people who would benefit from it, because
The food industry has suffered noticable financial losses since all the GLP-1 people have been buying less food.
And word still needs to spread that this shit cures alcoholism & drug addiction & all other addictive behaviors too. And of course that would probably put the alcohol industry and for-profit prisons nearly out of business too.
Imagine a world full of people no longer running around seeking dopamine hits all the time! So many industries would lose so much revenue over this!
And that’s why all I’ve seen in the media is antagonization toward this medicine. It’s an agenda to keep people sick & spending money on shit that keeps them sick & addicted. Because that’s good for capitalism.
My aunt and uncle got on the weight loss drugs. Last I heard, they still have their regular table at the pub, drinking every night. You see, it’s classy when you start throwing out fancy beer names…even though it is alcohol and pub food that you eat each night.
Sooner or later, the bill comes due.
I’m sure they’ll get thinner anytime soon!
