I don’t think there will a “year” of the Linux desktop. The climb to take over will take more than a year. A “Decade of the Linux Desktop” seems more apt and I think this is it. 2020-2030 will be this change. SteamOS and Proton has bridged the Gaming gap and entry level for average users so well and it’s only going to get better.
Despite having used it in the past, never ran Linux main. This year will be the first time ever, nervous but exciting. M$ really pushed hard enough that I don’t want to bother with another Windows (started at 3.1).
What is the exact qualification in order to be called “the year of the Linux desktop”? I have been using Linux on my desktop computer(s) for almost two decades. Was my year of the Linux desktop this year also?
I’m personally gonna call it,
2026 is legitimately the year of desktop Linux
Microsoft’s fucked around with their users to a considerable degree that 10% happened this soon.
Fuck Microslop, Long Live Linux
