The points they made about Cardcaptors are mostly correct, but the adaptation we got also removed all the deeply problematic age gap romances which is a welcome censorship.

Sakura’s friend Rika is in a relationship with their teacher for one, apparently with an engagement in the manga according to wiki. I mostly watched the anime, so I’ll have to trust that. I think Kaho, their substitute teacher later on, is with Eriol, unless I read that one wrong. It’s been awhile.

Ohhh I forgot about that. I don’t think it’s really a big thing in the anime, definitely no engagement.

I think Kaho is one of Eriol’s underlings, I don’t remember anything romantic. It’s been a couple of years since I last rewatched it though.

Yeah, they removed it from the anime from what I’m reading online. Looks like Kaho and Eriol’s thing are more in the manga, too. CLAMP why?

I actually watched the English dub on TV growing up, so it’s funny to read on Wikipedia now. The fact that they tried to make Rika’s thing into being afraid of the teacher instead. I still read it as, at the very least, a crush with that original watch.

Lol, it’s interesting how much they apparently changed from the manga. I remember when the Clear Card anime was about to come out there was an extra chapter you were supposed read leading up to it… and then I found out that the manga ends in a completely different way from the last movie, and I also just found something about Sakura and Saoran’s relationship offputting. I’m glad they twisted things in Clear Card so that it’s actually the anime’s continuity and the manga’s continuity is “fake” 😂
