Had some “friends” make disparaging comments about me being in a relationship, disguised as “them looking out for me”, even after I told them to stop. I know not to take it personally, but I am disgusted. I have barely told them anything about my relationship, so telling someone that they’ll “see” how delusional they are in a few months, that they have a shit track record in dating, and generalising about men is uncalled for.
There’s a difference between looking out for your friends when they’re in a shitty situation and this toxic crap
I have found that another reason jealous haters will say disparaging things to happy people is so they can “own” the happiness. They can’t be happy or make people happy but they can destroy happiness and thus they had power and ownership over the happiness.
Also known as the ‘fixed quantity of happiness’ theory. Believers feel that before they can have any more happiness for themselves, they first have to take some away from someone else.
Have they even met him? Even if it happens that a friend doesn’t click with a partner, it shouldn’t matter. This happens in lots of friendship groups and couples. You are happy that your friend is happy. It’s their partner not yours.

This is common behaviour amongst some people.
They are jealous you are happy, and the only way to make themselves feel better about being worthless, is making you feel bad.
Once you know the game, you can see it coming a mile away.
Don’t let a bunch of losers make you feel bad or question your choices.
They want you to fail so you can stop exposing them to the reality that no one wants to date them.
And it sounds like there’s some pretty damn good reasons.

This is very insightful.
Thanks. Sadly it’s from experience.
It’s why some people will always create drama or be mean on Christmas, holidays or birthdays. They want to destroy the happiness of the day.
Trump is a very good example of that.

And to take they do mean things?
Yes, that’s the whole point.
The zero sum game
Thanks mate.

No they haven’t! They’re just making baseless assumptions and making an ass out of them and me.
