It truly blows my mind that people need to use AI to write coherent sentences with proper punctuation at all. The shit that I receive in my inbox from people making far more money than me, that have multiple advanced degrees no less…it makes me weep for a future where no one is able to function without a computer holding their hand through the entire interaction.

Or my personal favorite, when my son was getting a full lunch packed every day and also getting a school lunch on credit and when his mother and I said “uh, the kid has a lunch and we do not want him getting school lunch on top of his packed lunch because DUH” they straight up said they will not disallow him from getting a school lunch on top of it because he must be hungry.

Except plot twist! He admitted he was only getting the school lunch for the treat and the chocolate milk and throwing the rest away. Kid got cookies or a brownie or something sweet in every packed lunch, and ate them every day, ate his whole packed lunch, as he didn’t even like 90% of the food on the school menu.

Mentioned that to the school and was told that they couldn’t control what he does or does not eat. “But you can control him not racking up debt that we have to pay that we didn’t expect, can’t you?!”

And that’s how my wife and I together paid roughly $200 over the course of his first grade year for lunches that he largely threw out.

This, basically. At least that’s how I used it. As a kid living in the bible belt, admitting you were an atheist was, in their eyes, literally no different than being a cannibalistic devil worshipper. Agnostic was easier for them to swallow (albeit because odds are high that most of them didn’t even know what it meant, and figured it was some sect of Christianity they were unfamiliar with).

When I got older, and escaped the institutional bigotry woven into nearly every facet of society down in the bible belt…the lovely place where our biology teacher also headed the bible club and refused to teach evolution yet somehow still had a job as a biology teacher in the public school system, as a small example…that was when I finally gained the confidence to self-describe as an atheist.

They need that money for the big interchanges they’re going to put in for the 10s of people working at all the new data centers.

Had to learn that lesson in 2000 when I voted for Nader. It wouldnt have made a difference since the Supreme Court got bought off to throw the election to Bush, but that was the last time I dared play the foolish game of voting my conscience in the failed democracy we call the United (lol) States.

Its not always that simple. Finding newer construction by me that is not part of an HOA is borderline impossible, and anything older that might predate the HOA-ification of new developments are still priced close to the new contruction because the locations are usually much more desirable, even if theyre literally a full gut or straight up unfixable and have to be knocked down.

My wife and I spent well over a year looking for a house that was within the price range of a “normal” house for here because I told our agent right off the bat that I do not want to live in an HOA due to bad experiences with my last one, which was $1000 a year for literally nothing paid to a corporation based on the other side of the country that literally just manages HOAs.

The 1000 bucks a year for mowing the common areas that never got mowed, clearing the paths of snow that never got cleared, and taking care of the plantings at the signs at the periphery of our neighborhood that were dead withon a month of being planted due to lack of care. So yeah, done with HOAs lol…and I had a “cheap” one.

Thats the best part about AI…when it shits the bed no one is directly responsible. Everyone just throws their hands up and says “nothing we can do about it!”

I know this is going to age me, but I saw this happening with self checkout in grocery stores 20 years ago. Nobody remembers how it was before so nobody even realizes that the time wasted standing at a stupid kiosk that is freaking out about unexpected items in the bagging area wasnt a problem back when human beings were scanning the shit.

I do procurement to the tune of 10+ million per year and I have seen a 300% increase in order fulfillment time solely due to those vendors pivoting to AI order fulfillment.

My direct reps at all these suppliers are just as powerless as we are…they know how unhappy their customers are, but these decisions were made much higher up then them and theyre pretty much being told to stop complaining because the AI is here to stay, even if it sucks, because its cheaper.

Was playing a board game (I dont even remember which) and I had to give the name of a tropical place that starts with letter M that no one else would guess. I said Manila and this person I was playing with argued with me for 20 minutes (this was pre smartphone) that Manila isn’t tropical. I had to seriously find a book with a world map in it to show this person where the Philippines are located to prove that it is, indeed, tropical and honestly she was still unconvinced.

I played it off but I lost a lot of respect for my then girlfriend, who I was with, because I know she knew I was right but wouldn’t defend me because she didn’t want to take sides against her other friends. That was honestly the beginning of the end for us, that stupid fucking game night I didnt want to go to anyway lol

My favorite TSA experience was how my nephew was on a no fly list and we didnt find this out until we waited through two hours in line.

My nephews age at the time? 6 months old. The No Fly order was older than he was.
