I’m currently growing 16 heads of garlic on my balcony, 2 per pot in square pots that are about 1 cubic foot each. I don’t have a ton of sun, so the heads don’t come out huge, but committing to growing one thing in bulk like this means I won’t end up with a tiny amount of 8 different vegetables like last year. I’ve always heard it’s best to start garlic in fall, so mine are about a foot tall right now.

ETA: Oh, make sure to get some cloves of a nice hardneck variety to start your plants. The cloves are much bigger and nicer to work with than the softneck kind you buy at the grocery store.

Thanks, that sounds like a nice thing to try :-)

And thanks for all the input, will consider it after talking with my wife, what stuff we want to grow this year

But our own garlic seems like a really interesting thing to do - as tomatoes and pepperoni are starting to get a bit boring
