It’s notoriously difficult to distinguish between sideswords and rapiers in illustrations. How are you able to tell that it’s a sidesword?

Technically, the character on the left is rapier-chan.
But the sword is a sidesword, not a rapier
I bet centurii was basing their design off of something like this swept-hilt rapier.
It’s notoriously difficult to distinguish between sideswords and rapiers in illustrations.
How are you able to tell that it’s a sidesword?
