Asteroids would’ve supplied the necessary raw materials, heat, and geologic plumbing to circulate prebiotic matter while also creating freshwater crater lakes conducive to supporting life.

    Destruction and new life all in one red hot package

    According to this study some extremely robust bacteria can even withstand these impacts and go travelling around the cosmos. At least from impacts on a Mars sized planet. Given some radioactive decay for warmth and therefore some liquid water I imagine this might be a common way life travels around the universe.
