I can see the logic, especially if we’re assuming the person who feels they need to lie isn’t doing something wrong. Though that’s mostly because I can’t think of a scenario in which people get angry or create problems because of a refusal to discuss certain topics or an innocent truth without malice (or completely out of line nosiness).
I can’t tell if I’m lacking in imagination or if I’m just more comfortable associating extreme nosiness with malice, though.
