Just had my 50th birthday party last weekend, got a huge house in Noosa for 4 nights with 13 of my closest friends, a bunch flying in from interstate. It was deeply, powerfully satisfying to just hang out with the people that I care about the most for an extended period of time. Lots of people there who hadn’t hung out before, or had only met a couple of times, and everyone just clicked immediately, it was exactly what I wanted. Almost everyone there has had a really rough year in some way and you could see the stress evaporating off them like steam.
Heaps of the people there have since commented to me how much it reminded them that being around good people is the best way to relieve the pain of living in a world that’s on fire. Time goes by so fucking fast at our age, you plan to catch up with everyone but by the time you get around to it half the year is gone already. I’m going to organise a bunch of regular events for everyone to get into their calendar, monthly or bi-monthly games days, lunches, dinners, etc, make sure I’m spending time with the people I care about as much as possible.
Life is short, and it gets shorter every day. Make sure you’re spending as much of it as you can with the people you love and that love you.
Happy birthday, sword fighting dog person!
You make good points. Sometimes I wish I had some friends to catch up with.

Beanies serve many purposes…

That poor Jag interior getting 7-11 sausage roll crumbs all over it smdh
You know your sausage rolls I see. You too are a man of class.
I’ve actually got a lot of respect for the servo sausage roll.
When it’s 2pm and you haven’t stopped all day, scarfing down a dead horse slathered sausage roll that’s been in the hotbox since 4am while you drive hits like the finest cut from a steak restaurant.
Haha. Sausage rolls were never a favourite thing of mine in life. I was getting a “traveller” pie every morning and the SR was just for a change. I now have them every day. Last week for a change I got a pie again, but I didn’t enjoy it.
Not the healthiest thing to consume on the daily, but smoko is at 10:30 which is, shit, 7 hours after I wake up. So I need something. That and a large coffee is $6 so pretty good really. I arrive at work 30 minutes before we start so I have plenty of time to eat.
Oh also they’re freshly heated up too being 5 am.
Anyway I’m happy it’s Friday. Damn it’s been heating up so much. I have been tasked with tidying up all of the outside area of our workshop. I made sure I had my wide brimmed hat and also tried to work it so I wasn’t in too much sun.
We went to the tip at Browns Plains to do a dump run yesterday. Jesus C that place is huuuuuge. I’m blown away at the sheer size of it. Anyone else been there ?
Overtime is still available at work but on Fridays we can leave at 12. Hmmmmm, unless something urgent pops up I’ll be leaving at 12 I reckon.
The Bandicoots have been going berserk on my block.

That’s cool, I didn’t know they were that prevalent on the island
Lol. Me neither until recently.
