Finally have a fantastic setup for my surface to act as a tablet. the extension Touchup is doing some heavy lifting for usability. apps are: files, Riff, Librewolf, Voyager. Heres more screenshots.

      That’s openbar which also changes the colors of the panel and menus. I use it to and with it’s auto theming it’s super easy to totally change the look of your system.

        Shows up as “unsupported” and doesn’t seem to work for me on gnome 50 😔

        Every extension that did the whole “free-floating/pill-shaped” COSMIC-style top panel (and there was a number of them) — not a single one got updated for gnome 50.

        Fortunately, gnome 51 will support top panel transparency, just like macOS. If I can’t make it look the way I want, at least I can just not look at it at all.
