According to a recent independent review of this study, scientists claim cats seem to be responding less to the actual lyrics of the song. Instead it seems they are actually responding more positively to the crab-like dance the owners conduct while singing the song.
The researchers also claim further reviews are required to isolate correlative data attributed to patting the cats butt to the rhythm of the song and dance.
