Centrist Group Third Way Plots $15 Million Campaign Against Progressives, DSA.
I hate this stupid shit:
Abdul El-Sayed’s victory in the Democratic US Senate primary in Michigan this week was just the latest example of an insurgent progressive challenger defeating candidates backed by the Democratic establishment.
The establishment, however, is vowing to not go down without a fight.
In regards to the Democratic party, “the establishment” is the DNC.
It is controlled by the chair who serves a four year term during which they have complete control of the party and is accountable to no one.
The current chair didn’t endorse anyone in a primary and never will.
And the day El-Sayed won, he put out a message of support congratulating him just like the chair did for Mamdani.
Progressives are the establishment now
We took the fucking party over and no one noticed a year and a half into it because oligarch owned media keeps telling everyone to tune out from the party, and they’re doing that to depress dem primary turnout in a hailmary attempt to stop progressives even if the “moderate” loses in the general to a Republican.
You seriously have no idea what you are talking about. Not a fucking clue.
If progressives were dominant in the Democratic party, there is no way Schumer and Jeffries would be running the show in Congress. The ability of a handful of freshmen progressives to replace either with a left leaning Democrat is non-existent, and that’s assuming they win the general.
Even if progressives dominated the elected offices, that wouldn’t make them “the establishment”. The term means something, and it’s not “the DNC”. The establishment is the entire structure of influence behind the party, including not only politicians, but donors, consultants, and the oligarch owned media.
Progressives have made a lot of progress, but we have much further left to go. We could lose almost all the progress we have made if we don’t outperform the establishment candidates by a wide margin in the general. The “electability” argument has always been the establishment’s best weapon against progressives, and it’s absolutely critical that we use this election to prove it wrong.
