Wanted provide vulkan.gpuinfo.org with logs of my notebook, checked my report there and then I found a “LISUAN 7G100”. More is written here.

Its interesting I think. I didnt expect to come near the actual AMD and NVIDIA GPUs performance wise. However to have such means to produce is quite cool. I would want one, if I had the money. However I am stuck with the RX 580 on my Desktop (Still good card today with 8GB VRAM. Its good enough for 1080p gaming and with FSR support its even better).

    Saw some Bilibili uploaders testing the card and its performance was roughly 60-70% that of an RTX 3060 which is impressive from the perspective of their progress (the current price to performance isn’t quite there yet).

    The drivers are definitely going to have some teething pains which were seen on other Chinese GPUs in the past. Still a very welcome development to see challengers to the current US monopoly.

    Definitely looking forward to the day where we can build an entirely non-US machine, they already have CPUs/Motherboards/RAM/SSD production lol.

      You triggered my brain with the word “RAM”. When I bought my Thinkpad, I had two options. Stronger CPU, but 16GB RAM installed or weaker CPU but 32GB RAM. In the end I chossed the stronger CPU version, because I can buy more RAM next month. Good CPU is great for development and you can’t upgrade it. Month later the DDR5 prices were insane. So, I still have only 16GB. 2GB are for VRAM, so there are my 14GB. And I am struggling with that. Jetbrains + Browser with many tabs open can be enough to reach the limit.

      I hope so much that China develops good RAM and then floods the market. I don’t care if it would be little bit slower, I just need more RAM. My Thinkpad supports up to 64GB…

      Windoze drivers might be a problem. This might be a case where Linux gets serious attention from Chinese devs first, given the Chinese government’s push to dump Windoze by 2030.
