I’m happy to announce that the beta version of my project has hit the water today. I don’t expect the first semi-automatic pistol in an adult caliber to have a smooth maiden voyage, but early testing hasn’t revealed any life-threatening issues.

About the pistol: Not fully printed, but no gun parts, just simple metalwork like drilling and cutting. Slide is a composite of printed liner and metal square tube, JB-welded together. Breech face metal too. ECM barrel. Available in 9x17 and 9x18 calibers.

Welcome, friends. Print, drill, assemble, test, have fun, and stay safe.

You’ll go down in 3D2A history if you can perfect this. I’ve been wanting this to be a thing forever. Even though I can’t weld… still bad ass. What has the initial tests shown? Round count?

The first prototype survived over 20 shots without any sign of critical component failure. I can’t say how many shots were fired during the second test, but none of the participants reported any serious issues. As far as I understand, for most testers, including myself, this is highly illegal, so the testing was quite modest.

I’ve been waiting for this for a long time! Thank you for your dedication! I can’t buy ammunition like .380 ACP, but I can buy 9x22mm rounds (the rubber-tipped type, with an overall size of 9x22mm). I hope they work well! Have a great day! I look forward to your feedback!

The initial tests were conducted with 9x22-based cartridges. I also hope to soon add a version using 6.35 bullets, developed by one of the test participants.

I haven’t tested or even considered such calibers. Firstly, the maximum cartridge length in this project is 25mm, which is already a problem. Secondly, I have no idea how to estimate the required slide weight for such cartridges. Thirdly, if this pistol were chambered for such cartridges, someone would definitely try a full-fledged 9mm, which would probably end badly. 9mm will do, and perhaps even my next project will take shape. But for now, I suggest at least trying the .380, which is also quite good.

the kinetic energy of pip9 nearly a 22lr and 9mm deep’s kinetic energy not higher than a 380acp i think it can change to adapt the design,I heard there is an ammo 9.2x19mm --To save on costs, some American reloaders create “wildcat” cartridges by seating Makarov bullets into 9x19mm casings; however, this necessitates a modification to the firearm’s chamber design.

That sounds very interesting and promising. But I have no experience with these cartridges. If their energy is as you describe, then why not? But I have no such plans. For now, I’m more interested in seeing this project through to release and then calmly moving on to the next one.
