Keep Android Open

Your phone is about to stop being yours. In September 2026, Google will block every Android app whose developer hasn't registered with them.

Is this still going to happen? What can we do?

Thanks for clarifying that this only affects Google Androids.

      Androids without Google are unaffected

De-Googled devices got screwed over by reCAPTCHA turning completely into DRM by mandating GMS. And this also affects Linux phones and desktops too, if you come across this new reCAPTCHA on desktop, you gotta get you Google Android or iOS device to scan the QR code to authenticate and pass the captcha, on your desktop, and Linux phones I assume are SOL completely.

That doesn’t really help. I need to know how to completely disable updates on my phone.

You can’t disable updates to Google Play Services.

Thanks! 🙂 I’ll go through them. So, it’s really happening?
