Mia Hyder had never attended a public meeting before when she showed up to the city council meeting in Springfield, Missouri. After briefly speaking at a podium during a public comment period, she was arrested and dragged away in handcuffs.
“Hello, my name is Mylie Hyder. I’m a Springfield, Missouri constituent, and I’m here to oppose the usage of ALPR cameras, most commonly made by Flock Safety. These cameras are not just surveillance,” Hyder started.
“I’m sorry ma’am,” Springfield Mayor Jeff Schrag said. Her mic was cut. A cop approached her at the podium.
Hyder held up both of her middle fingers while continuing to speak: “They are an invasion of our privacy,” she said.
The cop said, “You’re under arrest,” grabbed her arms, and pulled her out of the room. “I can do this all night. I get paid by the hour,” the cop added.
That’s not a solution unless it’s ur final stand.
Constituent showing up w a gun, likely would not get in through the door. If they did make it in, having a firearm at city council meeting would put a target on your back 100%.
So unless it’s ur last stand that’s just dumb af advice.
I’m not saying to go alone. Go as a militia.

This is what they sre hoping for and expecting from the population as they take away more and more of your rights. Working to cow the population into submission.
Showing up in numbers to an armed, but peaceful protest is what is needed when they are at the point of arresting people for voicing non hateful opinions .
We’ve already reached the point where secret police ripping people off the streets is normalized.
How much further should you let them get?
That’s the wrong question. The right question is, do you have the organized numbers to do anything productive about it?
A half dozen armed protesters are going to jail by the end of day, if not the morgue. A couple dozen might draw reinforcements, but the result will ultimately be the same. How many will you need to stand up to the inevitable military escalation? How are you going to keep that many people, who are already emotionally invested enough to show up at an armed protest, calm and orderly throughout the ordeal? What is the goal, just simple intimidation? What does “mission accomplished” look like? How does everyone know when to go home?
The kind of coordination required to accomplish your suggested outcome doesn’t just spontaneously emerge from a group of armed humans. It requires extensive organization and considerable discipline. That takes time. By all means, put the effort into organization.
Thousands of untrained armed citizens gathered together in a spontaneous protest? That’s gonna end really, really badly. Eventually a gun is going to go off, and then a lot of guns are going to go off, and a lot of people will die, and some of those people will be cops and it’ll be hoisted as a new 9/11 and an excuse to ram through legislation that would make the Patriot Act look like your nosey aunt.
This is one of those “if you attack the king, don’t miss” scenarios. Once we have enough committed people, and those people are trained and organized, we can talk about that route.
I don’t know how to answer that for you.
I know my equipment, training, capabilities, limits, boundaries and community.
I’m ready but not just gonna go (armed) to City Council to fight flock.
Unsure what’s gonna trigger it all or whether it’s gonna just continue churning…something’s gonna give.
I’m ready for it.
Even the NRA don’t allow you to take your weapons into one of their meetings
See this is the thing. We need a majority showing up to the meeting armed. Sure they won’t let people in, but the dirty politicians will definitely feel rattled.
You don’t have to go in. The group can stay outside and talk to the local news and explain why they had to be armed. The data center guys refused to talk at that one meeting when there was a guillotine outside.
