A second vote is still needed, which will be held on Dec. 9.

If approved, the ordinance will prohibit all law enforcement members, including local, state and federal, from wearing masks or disguises while interacting with the public while working in unincorporated L.A. County.

It will also require that all law enforcement members wear visible identification and agency affiliation.

A great step in the right direction but I’m guessing gas masks are going to be a huge loophole.

Put a large, visible placard on them with the officer’s name, face, home address and badge number. You know, sort of like an ID.

Yes and no. There’s always an exception for equipment like that, but no one is going to walk around in a gas mask if they don’t have to. These are the same people that said they can’t breathe through a surgical mask, an actual respirator might as well be a lead brick.

God, no one ever brings up how hot and sweaty they get. Like a leather boot, for your head, with a straw to breathe through.

I fear ICE might bring smoke bombs to every situation specifically for this. I’m happy for the law in any case, i’m being a bit of a pessimist tbh.
