I stopped using discover years ago after it changed from google now, or whatever it was called, when it was actually kind of useful and not filled with ads. I can’t even imagine how bad it is now and how much worse it’s going to become.

watched few yt videos on my work pc which doesn’t have ad-block, i was surprised at advertisers willingness to show horrible generated videos, like people with three arms and other absurd slop, how they thought that was acceptable?

Because it’s cheap to produce, or at least the cost is externalized away from them.

    Serious question:

When I’m surfing porn, if a site consistently misdirects, misleads or otherwise bullshits me, I’m done with it, forever.

Do people not do that with news and other stories?! I guess not since Google seems to be doing this to get clicks. Maybe it’ll fail as in the porn scenario, but that’s probably optimistic.

OTOH, just saw this post where every comment was going off the headline. Not even a matter of nuance, the headline is a straight fucking lie. And FFS, the article is so short it nearly fits on my TV screen. The article’s picture is over half the height of the text, yet no one read it.
