It depends on what it is. Computer components, smartphone, TV and other “high tech” devices I will keep the boxes of because it makes it easier to sell and transport if needed. But for everything else I will throw them away.

Same as these are the most likely things to be shipped off for warranty service.

Keep. You know, just until I know I’ll be keeping the thing and won’t be returning it. I’ll totally remember to get rid of the box.

It started with computer components. When/if you resell, that crowd ALWAYS wants the box and will pay more.

    And it’s kind of spread…

Why is the box so important?

Keep only within specific, narrow size parameters. I want the right size boxes because I move frequently; not so small as to be inefficient, not so large they will be back-crushing when full. The rest are broken down and send to the recycling bin.

Generally throw away but will keep for more expensive stuff to help with moving.

I tend to toss the box, at least after the store return period ends. My partner keeps them. We still have boxes for appliances that have been gone for years.

If its collectable or if parts are expensive enough for me to care about the warranty.

Women only trans inclusive This is an inclusive community for all things women. Whether you’re here for make up tips, feminism or just friendly chit chat, we’ve got you covered.

Rules…

  1. Women only… trans women are women, and transphobic or gender critical talk isn’t allowed. Anyone under the trans umbrella (e.g. non-binary, bigender, agender) is free to decide whether a women’s community is a good fit for them.
  2. Don’t be a dick. No personal attacks, no aggression, play nice.
  3. Don’t hate on groups, hatefilled talk about groups is not allowed. Ever.
  4. No governmental politics, so no talk of Trump actions etc. We recommend Feminism@beehaw.org for that, but here is an escape from it.
  5. New accounts or users with few comments may have their posts removed to prevent spam and bad-faith participation.
