Public transport will be free in Victoria for another month, and fares will then be slashed by half until the rest of the year in a bid to curb fuel demand and provide economic relief.

The Victorian government is extending its free public transport initiative for another month to include May.

Public transport fares across both metro and regional networks will then be half price from June 1 until the end of the year.

The initiative will cost about $432 million.

    $432 mil is about 80 dollarbucks per head.

    Considering that schoolkids already ride free, that’s a rather high estimate.
