    Kraft, who was raised in Brookline by observant Orthodox Jewish parents who hoped their son might become a rabbi, has traveled to Israel well over 100 times and, in 2019, was awarded the Genesis Prize – sometimes called “the Jewish Nobel” – by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

    “In combating the scourge of anti-semitism,” Kraft said in accepting the award, “my solemn ambition is to counter all forms of intolerance in the spirit of the ancient Jewish value of ‘tikkun olam’ — to heal and repair the world.”
