

Personally, I could do without Google Wallet. I usually carry my credit card and ID around with me. However, Chicago’s CTA system has a pretty good mobile app and it’s easier to manage your passes and fare that way.

You will not be able to use NFC for payments. In my case, it didn’t work for public transit cards either. That’s the only thing stopping me from switching.


This was a good read. I recently moved to Chicago but have always lived less than 30 miles from the city center and ridden the trains in and the CTA around. I have always felt safer on the L than on other cities’ metros (San Diego, Portland), but lately I have noticed an increase in open drug use. Hopefully the city can come up with some (compassionate) solutions for this problem.
