If you haven’t already blocked every community with “Reddit” in the name, I can definitely recommend starting by there.
It was Sun that would not release new versions of Java and let it get stale. That changed when Oracle acquired Sun/Java.

Law enforcement seized several items from Mangione’s backpack, including a handgun, a loaded magazine and a red notebook – key pieces of evidence that authorities have said tie him to the killing.

Ya, I don’t understand what the alternative is supposed to be. It was declining into lawlessness because police forces refused to do their jobs.
0·22 days agoIt was mostly a joke/irony.
Git is already a “distributed version control system” that does exactly what I’ve described. On the other hand, relying on centralized systems such as GitHub means that the “distributed” nature of it doesn’t make it any more resilient to failure.
Based on these ads, I do not trust the site anyway.
Love the concept, though.
Would be cool to see those as extensions to Git. Surely they could just be more Git objects?
I remember using the online version in the pre-Wikipedia days — back when there wasn’t just one site to look up everything, it was a good knowledge base for looking up info about countries, like size and population. I’m the early days of Wikipedia in pretty sure all the pictures used for the article of each country were the pictures published by the World Factbook.
