1·6 days agoI am pretty sure I can grasp exactly how to scale up the production of some chemical as a chemical engineer doing exactly that as a job. Bulk production of chemicals is EASY to scale compared to such discrete manufacturing.
Most facilities are not built for rapid expansion of processing explosive material. The current expansion of US RDX production capacity is projected to take half-a-decade and a billion dollars.
“They call me the BUTCHER of GORZGNABEL! Do you think it’s because I’m ORDINARY!? Because I’m UNEXCEPTIONAL!? NO! My own kind would prefer to scratch dirt for living - but I alone can drive them before me as an extension of my will! The orcish people have come to know my terror, and submitted to it like cowering dogs - and soon too will the race of man!”

1·6 days agoYes, for those you need quality steel and machine it with precision, every single one. You can not simply make a larger reactor to scale production 10x.
For artillery ammunition?
Fuck, man, artillery shells are made to fired in the thousands. Dumb rounds, at least, require no such level of precision - and, for that matter, making a ‘larger reactor’ is an oversimplification of the process necessary to scale the production of explosive material.

Everything has a cost.

2·19 days agoAnd a billion is nothing - especially split between Ukraine, the Baltics, and Radio Free Europe (which was fucking defunded by this administration to begin with) - compared to what we should be supplying Ukraine with, for so many fucking reasons. Moral ones most importantly, but practical ones topping the list of reasons why the opposition to aid to Ukrainian aid in the US government is for purely Vatnik bootlicking reasons, not ‘America First’ reasons.

Explanation: What we were generally recognize as the physical form of a book in the modern day is formally called a codex - an invention of the 1st century AD Roman Empire that made reading and book storage much more efficient. Instead of a single sheet of paper that needed to be unraveled, smaller sheets were bound to a spine and protected with covers, progressing through the writing by turning the pages.
