This isn’t the 15th century. They aren’t looking though a telescope and looking at flags to figure this shit out.

It’s not even this. It never had anything to do with responsibility, or child safety, etc. It has everything to do with tracking users which makes collected information more valuable to data brokers. Secondly, it let’s them justify advertisement fees in the age where where some traffic is from AI agents.

I think you’re being too kind. A good company should understand their user base and technology better so as to not make something no one wants. The reason they consistently fail at this, is because it’s primarily shareholders and investors who are the intended target. Same with the recent DLSS5 slop from NVIDIA. The actual users don’t like it. “A good company just needs to reverse their decision” would apply here too, I suppose? Need to keep appearances up. Bubbles all the way
It’s also what Linux should be doing in general,. It’s not even the US. It’s a fucking state in the US that is doing something stupid on behalf of Meta.
Any Linux distro should just put the onus on the CA legislature. Have a TOS that specifies that it does not comply with CA law, and as such isn’t legal there. No need for any implementation change. Businesses in CA can take it upon themselves to comply by maintaining a fork that adds any sort of BS. But, more than likely, the dimwits who didn’t know better and listened to Meta, might be surprised to find jusy how much everything runs on Linux (except a tiny number of user facing devices).

In 20 years of using Linux, I’ve only had a broken Linux four times. Four of those times, it was because of Windows being shit.

for now… they depend on Firefox. Not sure what will happen once it goes the way of the shit.
I might not know the use cases that Lutris covers. But I’ve been very (edit: happy) with Heroic Launcher for installing GOG games and keeping them up to date, and with entries within steam.
You’re being a bit rude, no? Especially about something you both don’t know and don’t seem to care to know? Which is the weirdest time to speak your mind and be a dick about it. I suppose this is the anti-intellectual age after all. In any case, and not that you care, but maybe someone else does. He is playing a mind controlling sociopath in Jessica Jones. So, the context here would be him having complete control over her, and anything he says, becomes reality in her mind. Makes it a confusingly bad choice for this particular use.

Don’t be so hard on yourself. Have you heard Altman talk about anything? It’ll make most conscious people feel less bad about themselves.
It also says a lot about their inability to identify bullshit
