something i heard is that it’s better to pay during the initial setup for getting the server located in an ideal location and cancelling the payment afterwards (?). just thought it might be helpful
it’s making the internet centralized and proprietary, i hate it. i do understand how it’s a very easy option for website operators struggling against malicious bots though.

maybe take a pic of the price tag and question them next time

yeah sure, but it should cover up the vast majority of stuff except new releases

yeah i do this quite often. tar gz the home folder and pushed it to the phone with rsync/termux

lmaoo yeah you’re right, wtf

kdenlive and openshot are my choice. openshot is easier for basic stuff but kinda buggy (at least it was in 2023)

well yeah, it surely is. win10 iot ltsc itself is defo getting support till 2032, but massgrave’s hwid/tsforge may get blocked at some point, though most people highly doubt that since m$ doesn’t really care at this point. (heck, the massgrave repos are hosted on m$ owned github) in addition to that, massgrave’s hwid mode generates an hwid on microsoft’s servers just like genuine windows licenses, so i’m pretty sure it’ll remain working, even if the method to generate hwid gets blocked somehow…
i do believe switching to a gnu/linux distro is a much better choice, but this is also an option if your relatives really prefer using windows or need to.
my thinkpad is haunted, it sometimes boots up by itself
probably a faulty power button

i would do vnc through tailscale or reverse ssh

massgrave.dev

bro isn’t using butterfly to flip bits?

A Galaxy S7 is still fairly powerful. It should be able to do everything a phone does. Put LineageOS if you need a more recent android version. Are you on a bootloader permalocked variant?

Gulim (default font for korean windows before vista, so similar to Tahoma) with font smoothing disabled :)

signal is more like whatsapp/telegram than slack/discord
jitsi is actually kinda being used in zulip. theres a button to create and send a new jitsi meeting.
matrix should theoretically be ok but the ux is still too bad imo

that looks like the control panel(?) has full access to the target device already. usually when talking about security of communication softwares we don’t consider this kind of attacks…

well i could block people/insance if i want, on my account level. unless it’s a moderation problem i prefer having the server not blacklisting certain accounts/instances based on their view.
i would avoid smaller wd external hdds, the big ones or seagate ones have sata hdd inside, but those wd ones are usb-only. you get to trash the drive if the converter fails (which is pretty common)
also consider getting larger enterprise 2nd hand drives, those are pretty cheap and nice
