At least in germany the police is already overwhelmed working with the information they get.

Journalists have gotten more CSAM deleted from the internet that them - and only after these informed the police about it and the stuff was still online almost a year later…

Also the judges of that area are way overworked and cases take ages to be decided.

This whole thing is too much cryptofascism fantasy needing an unlimited police force to even work.

There’s never been a more clear virtue signalling coupled with massive lobby interests than this law…

To add to that: almost all experts in that field will tell you that they prefer the money that’d need to be spent on implementing this to be spent on prevention programs (and educating kids about sexuality asap to they know what’s wrong and when they have to speak with another adult about it) instead.

The problem is that many issues today aren’t as simple and require a lot of compromises to happen which then makes it way more complex if an issue to vote for something.

I agree that the way it is today is absurd. A couple of years ago there was a speech of a politician in germany congratulating his party for making so hard to read laws that it often take weeks for critics to even understand and explain what’s happening in that law and by that time they could farm support for it.

I guess that’s a slightly different issue to yours though.

I mean it’s kind of important to be more mindful about the choice of words in general as many people say pedophile but mean child predator.

There are many people born with that attraction to kids that never act on it or even actively seek help.

The whole “let’s call everyone a pedophile” is doing more harm than good as it creates a huge stigma preventing people from looking for help.

That said: they are 100% not caring about that at all and just moving the goalpost…
