Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What non-profit organizations do you give money to? Why?
1·1 hour agoIf I had money to spend on that, I would strongly consider donating to the Free Software Foundation and Electronic Frontier Foundation. Our digital rights are vanishing rapidly and these two are specifically attempting to fight back.

632·14 hours agoNever thought I would live to see this day. Utterly pathetic. I remember even 20 years ago online censorship was extremely taboo.
Making it easy for normies to get online was a massive blunder.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How would you tell to your friend that AI has, with no doubt, lowered his skill?
84·17 hours agoHow about you just let him use the tools he wants? It’s not that deep.
I grew up in Boise and this is hyperbole. At best, the panhandle (where nobody lives) has a nazi problem, not the whole state. People harping on this sound just like the conservatives who think Chicago is a lawless hell hole.
Cutting emissions?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which one of your views gets you labeled as "the other"?
22·2 days agoI don’t think AI is the devil. Liberals/leftists are frightening lately over this topic, in a way that is increasingly difficult to construe as anything other than garden-variety technophobia and anti-intellectualism.
People jump to crazy conclusions when they learn why I never had children. They think I’m a eugenicist because I made a decision for myself even though I specifically don’t give a fuck what others do.
Liberals/leftists get strangely aggressive about wanting a cure for my genetic disorder. This apparently also makes me a eugenicist.
If someone is a vegan, polyamorous linux user who’s a pilot, which one would they mention first?

Every map I’ve ever seen splits Russia in half: the left part is in Europe, and the right part is in Asia.

Guess where everyone actually lives?

That’s right: Europe.
Yeah, actually, the most relevant part of Russia is in Europe.
europeans doing what they do best, starting world wars.
Don’t expect any help from the rest of the world this time.

312·6 days agoBlows my mind seeing people look on windows 10 as some kind of last bastion, apparently not realizing that was Windows 7 at best.
10 is the one where they fucked up the UX beyond repair, made everything slow and added insane amounts of spying. If you willingly switched to 10 then don’t pretend like 11 is a bridge too far now.

I don’t get a warning when I break the law.
