While the rural areas are a red stronghold, it’s not that much, and while cities tend to trend blue, there are large bastions of entrenched reds. If you were to hazard a guess as to what those entrenched red areas look like, you would be right if you guessed they fit the costco demographic pretty well.

Those have always been a weird thing to me. Like, yeah, I definitely enjoy simulating the fantasy life, but there’s something to the being life or death, and being stuck in it, that makes those actually work. If it wasn’t a forced thing, they’d just be generic and boring. The recent one, shangri-la frontier, kind of fails to engage me (I mean to say, I enjoy it, but verisimilitude is broken) simply because it’s so forward about the main character(s) having plot armor, and it partly has to be so forward about it because the characters aren’t stuck in the world, so there’s no explaining away things like sword art online did by having all the characters be ‘equal’ in terms of time played.

I don’t know. I may not have liked all of the stuff he did, but the larry the cable guy bit had some good ones, and foxworthy’s bit about drug side effects was well done.

While it’s certainly a silly viewpoint, it’s also not entirely wrong. There have been people who were released after decades in the prison that wanted to go back in. They couldn’t thrive in a world that had left them far behind, and the small guarantees were there in prison.

Nope. It’s a prosecutor’s wet dream. I’ve been inside of one, and the only folks in there are the grand jury members, the prosecutor (and any of his staff needed), and whoever they call to testify. Usually one of the grand jury members took notes for the proceedings where I was, but perhaps in a more populated area they have a court stenographer for it, seeing as this grand jury seems to have pretty detailed recordings.

I’m hoping the second one is released when the people named in the files released by the government go, “Oh no, we’re not going down in this alone,” and put out their emergency backups.

I would trust an ‘ai’ that had been designed from the ground up to do well in the stock market, just like I would trust an ‘ai’ that’s been designed from the ground up to drive trains. Idiots who think an llm is an ai in anything but spitting out what seems like reasonable answers/responses to your inputs are, well, idiots.

I could only hope saner heads would have prevailed, but finding that the military will suck trump’s dick on these orders is disgusting. It’s not really surprising to me, but it definitely hits the gut.

As for the reversal if we ever get a sane administration in? Well… Fuck me. I never thought I’d see a return to the idiocy of athenian generals in warfare. Just another thing to add to reasons to despise trump and the republican party. At least it’s measured in years instead of days.
