  • No, I really don’t. I personally don’t enjoy being gaslit and lied to, and that’s about all LLMs are good for. They are an opinion aggregator, so they can regurgitate information, but don’t have a mechanism for determining accuracy besides assuming that the most prevalent opinion is correct, which is absolutely the wrong way to go about it. LLMs are really just an inadequate substitute for critical thinking, and I refuse to ever kneecap myself by using them.

  • Because I currently live in a country built around the car as the focal point for all urban planning, to the detriment of all of us. I also drive as little as possible, walk to work, etc. I’m not over the top enthusiastic about “how amazing it is to be forced to drive a car for literally everything” like you seem to be about AI.

It’s one thing to be excited about AI from the getgo. It’s another, seemingly incredibly disingenuous thing to say “I tried but just couldn’t resist AI now look at how amazing it is there are zero downsides!”. That right there is basically what you’ve said, and comes across solely as a statement to try to astroturf public opinion online.

  • I applied for a new job internal to my organization in the Federal Government this spring. My application had these questions. I left them blank, but had the concern that doing so would harm my chances of getting the job. Ultimately I got the new position, but I think that has more to do with my chain of command not caring than anything else. I can absolutely see a very qualified individual being denied the job because they either provided answers the hiring manager didn’t like, or because they left them blank.

These questions absolutely need to go, and the courts need to start leveling fines/jail time for the officials who push through blatantly illegal shit that is destined to be overturner in 6+ months once it gets through the legal system. There needs to be an actual punishment for breaking the law, not just a delayed cancellation of the illegal thing.
