4·19 hours agoYes. They’re busy buying everything already. They just need a financial crisis to get the rest for pennies on the dollar. After that it’s time for neo-feudalism.

Companies love that, until everybody is completely in debt and they learn you can’t seize property from people that don’t own anything.

45·1 day agoOne representative from a client wanted to be there for every small change we made. The guy slept so little, his cognitive functions stopped working correctly and he started giving nonsense answers. His manager had to put him in a cab and send him home with strict orders to sleep and not come back for 48 hours.
You don’t want a person like that running a country. These are the types that accidentally start a war.

2·1 day agoAnd every time the politicians start with “the costs to mah economy”. They know every bullet fired means less healthcare and pension they can give to voters and that’s often sensitive thing during elections.
But by now they’re figuring out that acting like total wussies is losing votes too.
In the book it was a huge amount of scope creep, Hammond refusing to pay for it and then acting all entitled.

36·2 days ago“Hacked” is a bit much. It’s probably like the cameras on insecam.org, cameras plugged into that internet with no password or still on factory default like admin, 0000, 12345 and the like. That’s the security level of hanging a “keep out” sign on your bedroom door.

63·5 days agoJapan has a habit of doing this. The birth rate cratered, productivity is not that great and economic growth is famously low. Most workers do a form of performance theater, an actual “we pretend to work”.

It all turned to shit.

And most likely it’s because of that movie that regular people know a Cretaceous even existed and what animals where there. It did kick the field and public interest into high gear.

World News@lemmy.world•Volkswagen says it can now make cars entirely in ChinaEnglish
171·8 days agoAnd Tesla already walked right into that one. They produced their cars in China, starting up an ecosystem for EV parts, and that gave dozens of new Chinese car manufacturers the means to start up to become cheaper and more innovative. Now Tesla’s sales are dropping and dropping there.
So of course Volkswagen is there to say “we can do that too”.
