The US has always been kinda crappy. Look at who it picks fights with and look at who it generally avoids and you’ll learn a lot. Europe is better than them in so many ways and they know they’d get stomped if they compared themselves to most of the continent so they instead compare themselves to places that are a little more in line, often times because they themselves destabilized the region. Whenever Europe is mentioned it’s “oh, we couldn’t do that here because we’re different.”
Here in Canada we suffer the same problem except we compare ourselves to the US as our low bar.

Their systems are killing them, their cops are killing them, their guns are killing them, their politicians are on record saying they hate them, their religious leaders are clearly stealing from them while they abuse their children, they hate traffic but refuse to do anything about including keeping cars but using roundabouts, and the propaganda that they claim is corrupting their minds is so pathetic that even a toddler should be able to see past it like it’s made of crystal-clear glass.
The reason I hate the US is because they have zero excuses and still fuck things up in so many obvious ways while anyone with more than a few braincells screams at them to please just stop chugging rat poison and all they can say is “but it’s different here, we aren’t Europe” as if that’s any kind of excuse.
I’m always astounded at the near universal human ability to act as though some demented fuckhead is some super wizard who forces them to do shit. Putin is just some guy, he’s largely useless and he wears stupid high-heels because he’s not even able to stand up to his own crap. Everyone could just start ignorning him tomorrow but they don’t.
Part of that problem is there are a lot of people who love to be thugs. They’re just broken losers who love taking orders that let them be mean to others and the world would be so much better with them as red paste on the sidewalk to be washed away by the rain.
No but people in the military could start refusing orders. People in power could be actually held accountable. The maximum evil could be conservative democrats but instead morons worship Trump as the country rapidly decends further(it’s already there) into fascism.
The easiest one, especially in a recession, is that people could stop buying so much garbage from corporations. Like, do people really need to drink so much fucking bottled water from Nestle? Do they need all this crap from Amazon? Can they not wait a couple days to get something with slower shipping? Do they need to pay for Youtube Premium after the company gave tens of millions worth of aid to Israel’s propaganda machine(I cancelled mine immediately)? I straight up gave up buying most cookies and started making my own more often simply because the ones from Canada that I liked started coming plastic packages for some fucking reason.
I’m not demanding anyone assassinate Trump but for crying out loud could ya put in the smallest amount of effort to deal with being slightly inconvenienced because you can’t get prime shipping or slam 2L bottles of cola? And if the US can’t handle those basic things then they clearly don’t want things to actually be better, or at least they aren’t willing to be even a small part of the solution. Not everyone needs to be an action hero but fucking do something.
Also, because some smart-ass will bring it up, I’m not talking about stuff that unfortunately lacks reliable alternatives. It’s hard to get away from smartphone companies, Linux is easier every day but still has a strong reputation for being tricky, and I tried to get non-US mandolin strings but I really found the other options to lack the necessary basic level of quality(and at least their company seems to be run decently).

Why can’t US media just say something is happening? It’s always an alarm being raised or a “first step towards” or whatever else and never “we are here and have been here for a while and here’s more about it.”
ICE could show up with actual Gestapo uniforms and they could hang swastikas from the White House and that fucking country would go “oh no, we’re really teetering at the top of a slippery slope!”
And se will need to work on fixing that problem, yes. We’re also not “next” as we’re actively dealing with a conservative government right now that our moronic population believes is centerist just because they are technically between the left and the far-right. I’m not going to ask for or expect anyone else’s help, though, so you can take this nonsense “gotcha” and shove it way up your behind.
And see here’s the thing about the US falling, we don’t need to save you to protect ourselves, we just need to disconnect from that sinking ship. Sure we could try to pull this dead weight along with us but we could also just cut you loose to drown on your own while taking care of ourselves. If you’d even make a slight attempt to tread water then fine, but as it stands a lot of you are just bitching and demanding we carry you after you sunk the boat in the first place.
Not our fucking job to fix the US’s stupid problem. Land of the brave clearly don’t think it’s that big a deal so they’re on their own while we work out to take care of ourselves. Unfortunately there is still inaction, yes, but the US needs to actually do something about this instead of asking why no one is helping the country that actively fucked them over for decades upon decades.
I remember one guy telling a story where someone he met was saying that, well into Harris’ campaign, they really hoped the country got togehter and voted against Biden. As in, to be abundantly clear, they didn’t know that Biden hadn’t been on the ballot for months but they did have a very strong feeling about the him getting elected.
Here in Montréal we elected a mayor and party that are full of scandals and who ride developper dick during a housing crisis. 63% of the city rents but only 36% of the city showed up to vote and most of them voted for the cartoonishly bad party and a shocking amount voted for the “more parking garages downtown” party. It was, frankly, embarrassing as hell.
At this point I’d literally take just seeing more people actually caring and fewer people “not being political”. Caring about politics is not a niche interest. You don’t have to be an expert but the lack of comprehension around the subject all over the world, especially in places like the US and Canada where information is so easy to find, is fucking insane to me.
It would be sick if we could throw out the idea that this isn’t fucking Star Wars and we don’t need to take Conservatives seriously as the only other option outside of the centrists to get some kind of light-side/dark-side balance.
Sure, but why do so many people in the US jot even seem to be aware of what’s happening? Why are things still happening like this is just a rainy day and not a biblical flood?
I’m not going to ask for violence specifically but from the outside looking in it’s like most of the country doesn’t even know that anything particularly bad is happening.
They don’t need to start shooting, but they do need to take it seriously. For fuck’s sake not every problem needs to be solved by violence but every problem does need to be solved by people giving a shit at least. Meanwhile there are still hordes of people in the US just pretending like nothing is all that wrong.
