Dicarpio’s character wasn’t confused, you may be thinking of Elliot Page’s character, but I wouldn’t count that character as the main protagonist.

Being able to time travel implies he could also jump forward in time (e.g. to check his posthumous reputation).

Just because something is genetically recessive doesn’t mean the gene is rare in a population.
