9·16 days agoI would guess that the oil in all of the “intact” tanks is very hot as well. Oil is very good in retaining heat, after all.
Hot oil is much, much easier to set on fire than cooler oil.

6·17 days agoThey are used for launching certain types of missiles that cannot be launched in any other manner. Also, unless they are small enough to fit in the canal network, they’d have to pass through Istanbul, and that route is currently blocked from warships.
The emoji keyboard on my phone is doing a mighty good job for picking emojis. Evoking its strength takes quite a lot of convincing, though. The ability to copypaste any emoji into the field is cool, though! I mean, you can write whole (simple) words with the Chinese script! :D
That one doesn’t have all of the reactions I need, so I often need to fire up Blorp, find the conversation and do the 7-step process.
But yeah, the emoji button on PieFed is better than Blorp’s menu –> React…

2·21 days agoThe private owners of the line in question are the government of Denmark and the smaller towns around the city of Copenhagen.
Yeah, I hate it as well how the Finnish railways is organized. By it being a “Ltd.” type of organization, it manages to incorporate the worst sides of both private ownership and public ownership in one. Almost any solution would be better than ours.
But it’s still not private. Words have meanings and if we misuse them, we lose our ability to protect ourselves for example from actual privatization.

2·21 days agoAh, okay, so this route does not belong to Banedanmark, but to Hovedstadens Lokalbaner.
However, the web site of HL says:
Inden fusionen havde Hovedstadens Udviklingsråd overtaget statens aktier i privatbanerne, således at Hovedstadens Udviklingsråd ejer ca. 45% af aktierne i det nye selskab. Den øvrige aktiekapital ejes af amter og kommuner, som tidligere var aktionærer i de private baner.
^^ This means that all of HL belongs to government and municipalities. It also says that originally the routes had been largely privatized, but they were deprivatized in 2002.

2·21 days agoWhich you didn’t do, though: https://uk.bane.dk/en/About-Banedanmark
The very first sentence there tells it’s a governmental body under the Ministry of Transport. Unless Denmark has privatized its Ministry of Transport, it’s not privatized.
So, some asshole is stealing money that is supposed to go from your country to Ukraine? And somehow that’s a reason why Ukraine should not be allowed to remain an existing country?
Okay, so the majority of Finnish votes for opposing the genocide are okay for you? You’re against genocide abolishers only if they are corrupt? That’s good to hear, at least!
What are the democratic means you mean, more precisely?
…if you already have some understanding of what is being explained. This did clarify it a bit more to me!
How would you prefer Ukraine being supported?
Or are you just a supporter of colonial imperialism?

Bluetooth? Or British Telecom?
