I disabled the automatic search on mine. So opening the app drawer doesnt automatically prompt searching.

I just open the app drawer by sliding up from the bottom and tap the app I want to open. I set the favorites section with everything I need most often. And the 5 apps on the dock home screen dock for my absolute most frequent apps. Most apps that aren’t in either of those sections are ones I rarely open anyway.

Ive been using the FOSS launcher Kvaesitso for about a year now due to annoyances with Nova. It’s a different setup entirely, but I always preferred the app drawer over having scattered icons on the homescreen so its worked great for me. Anyone interested in trying something new should check it out. :)

I have argued extensively with people on lemmy about why having AI porn generated of you without your consent is deeply traumatizing and a violation of your rights and privacy. Actual entire threads of people telling me that AI deep fake porn was perfectly fine and that we’re being too sensitive to not want our male peers and random strangers making AI deep fake porn of us. Wonder where those people are now.

Drag is a protest. Drag is not a mockery of femininity it is the subversion of gender expectation. Drag is power, it is unity. The drag community changed my life and ive never done Drag. Drag is an art form and a performance, it is an expression of human feeling and a protest of human oppression. Drag has a long and beautiful history of resistance and compassion and unity. It has strong deep roots in the communities of black americans, and in queer communities of western Europe before the second world war.

To equate drag with blackface is a declaration of war on gender non-conformity itself. This is a declaration of hatred for those who step beyond the boundaries of gender assignment. Okay so you can place a child in a home without their consent where they are abused for an aspect of themselves they cannot change. So just. Torturing queer children for fun. This is illegal. This is categorically against the human rights conventions of the UN that the US has signed. This is a crime against humanity. Conversion therapy basically flat out doubles the rate of death by suicide. Youve taken these children from their families and now sticking them into households where they will be hated and abused in every possible way. Trying to force a child to change their sexuality or gender is sexual abuse. The rate of death by suicide for victims of childhood sexual abuse is significantly higher.

This is torture. Thats torture. Thats intent to destroy. This is literally a law designed with the express intent of creating genocidal actions against queer people.

Providing the general public with convincing text generation has been an absolute unmitigated disaster for humanity.

Humans have more than 2 sexes. Sex is a convenient category based around a phenotype, not a golden rule that all organisms adhere to. People who exist outside those phenotypes are not defective or malformed and do not necessarily require surgeries to ‘correct’ their bodies and make them fall in line with binary sex categories.

The reason that science has been able to assert that sex is binary is by excluding all organisms that exist outside those phenotypes. Its a problem when those organisms are people, as you are functionally erasing their existence or at the least handwaving it away as irrelevant. This is one of the many vectors along which intersex people experience discrimination.

By asserting sex as binary and immutable you are actually doing the legwork of transphobia for transphobes. They also assert that sex is binary and immutable. They deny that any such thing as gender identity or expression exists in the first place, instead asserting that gendered behavior is a direct product of biology.

I am not a ‘male woman’, to even try and state that is to deny my own biology and experience. It is transphobia.

Note how they always enshrine gender in biology, but then make all kinds of non-biological statements about what gender is.

“XX is woman”/“Large gametes is woman”/“can conceive is woman”

“Women aren’t as aggressive”, “women are more emotional”, “women like being in the home more”, “those are women’s clothes”, etc.

The only reason it’s so important for it to be biological is because of how it punishes gender non-conformity and makes the lives of trans people hell. Like it isn’t ideologically consistent and they know that. They just don’t care. If it was just about genitals or chromosomes, then why is it that gender dictates all these social things about us? The only reason to root gender in how you were born is to ensure gender roles are as rigid and immutable as possible.

A lot of people around here who don’t know what project 2025 says to do to queer people. Also a lot of people being strangely anti gun about this. So what, you think the solution is to sit back and do nothing? Do you think individual trans people are capable of sby themselves overturning gun legislation and having all the transphobes guns taken away?

Fascists have guns. The police sure as fuck isn’t going to start taking their guns away. The laws are not changing. If the state won’t protect you, if the state is trying to harm you, your only choice is to arm yourself.

ACAB as an acronym began in the early 20th century by workers who were striking in the UK. It is a term with a long, complex history behind it. Cops are the institution, so I’m not sure what you mean by individuals. Every member of the police force, from the top down, is a bastard. Every single one. There’s no exceptions to this. The very nature of law enforcement is being a bastard. It is a term that is meant literally. Law enforcement functions as a means to break strikes, to enforce private property and ownership of the means of production, to enforce rent and evictions, to terrorize the impoverished and the marginalized, to collect menial tax from the impoverished who cannot fight back against them, and above all else to act as the legal arm of state violence against working class people.

Individual cops may have done good actions. I’m sure there’s a cop out there who’s volunteered at a soup kitchen, sure. But that has nothing to do with him being a cop. That has nothing to do with the actual role he fulfills in day to day life, with the violence he enacts, with the system he supports.

The idea that police are holding back some tidal wave of horrifying crime is and has always been propaganda. Nearly every single woman I know has been a victim of sexual harassment or violence at some time in their lives, including myself. A lot of them have gone to police before. I don’t know a single person for whom that did literally anything good for them. I know 1 woman who was harassed literally across the country by people including police officers who said she was lying. The police don’t prevent murder. They don’t prevent violence of any kind that’s literally not their job. More often than not they are the ones committing acts of violence for which there are no repercussions.

I love how every acab post inevitably brings out a bunch of uninformed libs in the comments talking about how pigs are only bad in America (as though the term ACAB was invented in America…) or how a society without them is completely inconceivable. As though badges grow on trees, like police are just a natural thing that sprung out of the ground.

The primary function of the police is to protect private property and enforce eviction. They’re state agents who are allowed to use violence against working class people, and do so to prevent us from overthrowing the ruling class and redistributing wealth and the means of production. They protect class hierarchy. They attack protestors. They use state violence against the disenfranchised and the marginalized. The “just doing their job” of the police is to protect and preserve the unequal distribution of power in society. They do so by using violence against the working class. The rest of anything else they do is a small fraction of their job and entirely secondary to their primary functions.

Oil CEOs pay fines for bringing about a global climate catastrophe. Fascist politicians are given slaps on the wrist for an attempted coup d’etat. Government officials openly commit gross violations of privacy and suffer no consequences.

But a guy hacks a university network and downloads a hoard of scientific articles that should have been freely accessible to begin with and he gets 35 years in prison. I’ll admit I wasn’t familiar with this case before I saw this picture. Which is kind of insane in and of itself.
