First, aside from literal war-torn countries there’s nowhere where being homeless is a “huge upgrade” (or even a small upgrade) over not being homeless. That’s just not how that fucking works. Second, in the past (and present) poor Chinese people did in fact enter the US in large numbers looking for opportunity, and what you’re implying didn’t happen in the slightest.
