Lawyers for Naveed Akram - who is facing 59 charges over December’s attack on a Jewish festival on Bondi Beach that killed 15 people - argued that his family could be targeted by vigilantes and had already experienced abuse

Golly, he seemed fine with targeting others’ families. What a weird double standard.

    Reap what you sow, prick.

You’re confusing legality with cause & effect.

If you’re going to terrorize a nation by murdering a dozen people, there’ll be an effect. This prick seriously thought “oh I can kill people but surely my loved ones won’t be targeted”? Idiot. Fuckin duh your family becomes a target.

Would I target his family? No. Am I condoning the act? Also no. Am I surprised to see other people doing it? Not in the slightest. I hope he’s scared for his family the rest of his life.

The “reap what you sow prick” sounds a bit like gloating in the fact that his family will be harmed.
I hope his family is fine, and I also hope that he worries constantly.
Man, I know terrorism is crazy and all, but it’s just so stupid too.
How could it have anything but the opposite effect of what you’re going for?
Why would killing innocent people on a beach make people feel sorry for you and care about your cause?

It was a family who did it wasn’t it? The whole family didn’t shoot, but that type of family that produces a father son like them, well they’re all a bunch of racist cunts. If they didn’t outright support it they sure as fuck didn’t ostracize the cunts enough.

I don’t care if you’re family, you spew that kinda shit, you’re dead to me and I’ll happily tell the world you’re better off dead.

The more people finally take a stand and tell the defective scumbags to go crawl in a hole and die, the better we’ll be.

This seems less about his anonymity and more about the anonymity of the people who are unfortunate to have close association with him.

        “But what about his family!”

He should have thought about his family before he started shooting innocent people.

Why should his family be punished for his actions? Is their right to privacy forfeit just because someone they’re related to has been accused of commiting a crime?

Yeah, maybe it’s the day, but Lemmy-sorted-by-Hot has had a lot of bloodthirsty comments lately that go just a step farther than I’m used to seeing

Why are we advocating that a murderer (i don’t need the court to confirm that part, but they will) have his family’s names revealed? I can’t do anything about my child rapist cousin, he’s in jail already and it’s not like anyone besides his parents even really knew, but putting MY name out there, as a trans woman, would get me killed.

You’re joking, right? There’s no way a trial ends in anything other than a guilty verdict. The whole world saw him commit those crimes on international news, some of use saw it live. The trial is basically a formality at this point, he wont be walking away from this.

Ah, so we don’t need courts anymore. Good to hear, this will surely bring many savings in the future. Sad to see that people are no longer equal under law, however.

Don’t try to put words in my mouth, I said that the trial is “basically a formality”, not “we don’t need courts”. Courts will always be necessary, even in cases like this where the defendant has such overwhelming evidence against them, everyone deserves the right to legal defense and their day in court. Just how much his lawyer can help him in this case?.. Well, let’s just say I don’t envy that lawyer or his job. I don’t understand why people here are so keen to defend a man who is so clearly guilty. We all saw his rampage, the whole world saw it. He was caught on camera, clear as day, as he gunned down innocent people. He lost his right to anonymity when he pulled that trigger.

I didn’t realise I’d have to remind others here that people are innocent until found guilty. By a court. Any action based on presuming the outcome is a breach of that. Add collective punishment to that and this whole situation looks very troubling.

Are you talking about the same system that puts innocent people in jail? Or the system that has built-in slavery? Or the system that actively protects pedos that rape our environment? Just checking…

Or the system that reveals the names of innocent people who had the unfortunate fate to be related to a vile person?
