You’re confusing the planet Mercury with the god Mercury. It’s the god who measures the temperature, and communicates it to his followers by means of an oracle in which the deity causes quicksilver to magically levitate inside a glass column.
So… If I’m understanding you correctly… We need to move the oracle father from the sun?
That shouldn’t work, because then Mercury would have a longer commute from Mercury to the oracle from which he communicates the rise in mercury. I want to shorten Mercury’s commute from Mercury; then Mercury won’t be so hot and sweaty when he raises the mercury, and the temperature won’t go as high.
But if he’s hot and sweaty, wouldn’t he want to cool down by making the atmosphere colder?
