      How is it inferior? And yes no extension support by design. Every extension you add has full control of your browser.

      How is it not fully FOSS? Free, Open Source, Software. You saying their are non open binary blobs in it?

      Edit: I should say if you build it, if you go with the google play one it has added crap if I remember correctly.

        @NewNewAugustEast

        Firefox Android in general has no way of selectively keeping cookies (logins vs tracking) AT ALL. You need #CookieAutoDelete for that.

        It also has no content blocker, unlike Brave. You need #uBlockOrigin for that (and no, DNS-based filtering is not good. Little user control, little granularity and badness enumeration)

        So it isnt really a privacy friendly browser at all.

        Additionally, Focus is stripped down even more, has probably a unique fingerprint etc. And Mozilla includes blobs and nobody cares to release a blobfree version.

        For privacy and usability, use #Ironfox.

        Hey, @celenity is even here!

        Ironfox asks if you want to install uBlockOrigin in the setup screen (which is reall neat btw)

          Thats annoying that Focus doesn’t have fingerprint protection. Firefox does so why not include it?

          I really like Focus as a concept. On a mobile device 95% of my browsing is one off look up something and move on. Closing and dropping all cookies, adblock built in, no extensions is nearly perfect. Anti fingerprinting should be added.

          Any other browsing that matters: yes better off with something else.

            You misunderstood me. Focus doesnt have addon support. And as a separate browser it very likely has a unique fingerprint.

            You can set #Ironfox to use private browsing always. I suppose that is the appeal with FF Focus and the result is a better browser. And Ironfox has support for FF Sync and has extensive privacy and security improvements, unlike the bit that may have been addes to Focus.

              I know it doesn’t have add on support. That is a very good thing. I don’t want it to.

              Yes, it has a finger print. I am agreeing on that point. It should be fixed, firefox android has anti finger printing, and I don’t understand why they dont add that to firefox focus.

              Again, I use focus for 90% of browsing on mobile by default. I use a different browser for when I want to go to sites I actually care about and use, where I want additional ad block, sync, etc.

                @NewNewAugustEast

                You can just… not install addons… or only install trusted ones, from a trusted store, like uBlock Origin.

                “It has a fingerprint” makes no sense. Please look up what that even means. Everything has a fingerprint.

                Focus is just Firefox Android in worse with a minimalist UI and always private-browsing mode. You can literally do this in Ironfox, and much more.

                screenshot of Ironfox browser settings showing a toggle for "always use private browsing mode", among others like which referrers are sent and if cache is written to disk.

                  But I don’t want to. I don’t even want it to have a mechanism to add extensions. That is the point.

                  I know what fingerprinting means. Again, Firefox for Android has antifingerprinting, but focus does not. That is weird. Why they don’t add it and make it default is strange.

                  Finally, what is your weird obsession with pushing Ironfox? I am talking about (and started this with) Firefox focus.
