If anyone in the Jedi had been willing to just place Anakin on reserve duty and let him and Padme live somewhere peacefully, the whole saga would be different. Like, “Okay, so internally, you’re a Jedi Knight. You don’t have the authority to speak or act on behalf of the council, because you shouldn’t be gallivanting about anyway. They listened to the guy who bet everything on a kid winning a pod race to get some spaceship parts, and worse, he brought Jar Jar back with him.
Bringing Jar Jar back should have had Qui-Gon removed from the order.
